TALKING ABOUT GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTION
(without making it partisan)
Following the mass shootings in Parkland, FL and Santa Fe, TX, Ed Scruggs was the only gun violence prevention advocate to participate in Gov. Greg Abbott's round table discussions of gun violence and school safety.
Ed will share the proposals to come out of the round tables and following hearings on school safety. Attendees will learn about the school Marshall Program, as well as the very loose and often unspoken of "Guardian System" and where these things stand now with districts like AISD.
WHY THIS TOPIC
As financial women in the Hill Country, guns are a part of our culture, at work at home and in our community, as well as in regional and national discussions on school safety. This nonpartisan discussion in not about removing guns, but concerns ways we can better secure our guns at home and prevent them from being used unlawfully. With deer hunting season about to begin, what better time for a refresher of best practices of securing our guns.
