Summer Leadership Forum

Each summer the Association hosts a one-day Leadership Forum consisting of a half-day guest speaker presentation on a timely topic, followed by a lunch and half-day leadership and planning workshop. Historically, this event has been held at no-cost to FWIT members and open to nonmembers for a nominal cost.

Forum VIII is in the books!

A very successful 2022 Summer Leadership Forum was held June 11, 2022 at The Historic Menger Hotel in downtown San Antonio.  Fifty-five members heard great speakers and participated in our Association's July Board meeting and planning session for the 2022-2023 FWIT year.

Check out the video to see what all you missed and plan to join us next summer!  Details will be announced in the spring of 2023.

Previous Forums

Forum VII - June 2021: The 2021 Forum was held on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at the Hilton DFW Lakes Executive Conference Center, 1800 Highway 26 East in Grapevine, Texas 76051. We had a great attendance of over 30 members and guests. Julie Anderson, AKA The Brain Lady, was a fascinating speaker for the morning and we had a hybrid in-person and conference call Board meeting and 2020-2021 / 2021-2022 transition meeting the in afternoon.  Check out the sidebar pics.

2020: Although we postponed the 2020 Summer Leadership Forum until 2021, the Association Board held the 2020-2021 FWIT Association Transition and Planning Meeting on Thursday, July 23, 2020, from 4 - 6 PM via Zoom! This annual meeting is for discussions with current and incoming Association leaders for purposes of planning and supporting the success of the Association. We had 32 current and future leaders and interested members attend. The agenda included current monthly Board meeting business, introduction of the 2020-2021 Board composed of Association officers, directors, appointed chairs and local group presidents, and an outlook on the upcoming year. Thanks to all who were able to join us!

Forum VI - June 2019: Houston was the venue for the June 22, 2019 Summer Leadership Forum. Thirty attendees heard a riveting presentation from the Houston Police Department’s Senior Community Liaison, Stephen Daniel, on what to do when the unthinkable happens. He explained how to react during an active shooter crisis and the importance of having a “survival mindset” in the event of a mass shooting. A second guest speaker, Mark Elliott, author of Sitting Duck – Why YOUR Business is a Cybercriminal’s Ideal Target, also spoke on how to keep our data safe. Mr. Elliott discussed the common cyber-criminal attacks and provided practical tips applicable to all attendees. Additional details can be found in the News tab in the July 2019 issue of FWIT News.
